NavyBooks started as ‘Maritime Books’ founded in 1979 by Royal Navy officer Mike Critchley to publish books and magazines on naval subjects. Over time the on-line bookshop was added to the business and now sells to customers worldwide. In October 2015 Maritime Books became NavyBooks with Ian Whitehouse as the new Managing Director. In December 2017 MCI Media Limited bought the assets of NavyBooks.
PUBLISHER – PETER VAN SCHIE
Peter van Schie has worked in the maritime publishing sector for over 25 years in sales, marketing and port related event roles. In his early career he worked on several port magazines including PdI, Cargo Systems, Cargo Today, and World of Cargo Handling. In 1995, with a wealth of experience and industry knowledge under his belt, Peter established MCI Media Ltd and launched the magazine World Port Development which has earned its position as a leading source of information for the port industry, offering high-quality and value-added services to its readers. During this time Peter created a number of global port and maritime related events, most notably the highly regarded and successful Port & Terminal Technology Conference & Exhibition, which is now in its tenth year. He also researches and writes independent reports for the ports industry. In his early years Peter did two years National Service in his homeland, Holland.
INTERIM EDITOR – SHEILA MOLONEY
Sheila was a co-founder of MCI Media Ltd and has been a key member of the editorial team for over 15 years. In 2008 she took over the role of Editor of our sister magazine World Port Development and has been instrumental in helping the publication to achieve its prominent position in the industry.
SUBSCRIPTION / BOOK SALES MANAGER – CLAIRE PALMER
Claire joined MCI Media Ltd in 2008 as Business Development Manager and is an invaluable member of the team. She drives our marketing and sales team and promotes our publications worldwide by organising our subscription and distribution programme. Before joining MCI Media Ltd, Claire worked for the BBC for 5 years in an event/marketing role. Being multi-talented and highly efficient, Claire also manages our websites ensuring information is current and relevant.
