James Grant (1822–1887) was a Scottish author. A distant cousin of Sir Walter Scott he was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He wrote some 90 books, including many 'yellow-backs' - the paperback style best sellers of their time. Titles included Adventures of an Aide-de-camp, One of "The Six Hundred", The Scottish Musketeers and The Scottish Cavalier.
"Sea Battles In The Age Of Sail" collects Grants more thoughtful work on the subject of sea warfare, from Francis Drake to Trafalgar. Containing illustrations and remarkably detailed accounts of key battles and historically defining strategies. Very easy reading an ideal armchair side book to read, perhaps with a dram of Grant's national drink?
